If a hurricane does threaten Southwest Florida, there are several good tips to know ahead of time.

First, you could have cash on you. ATM's often times can run out of money, or lose power during an outage.

Second, stick to carry-on luggage only so your valuables won't get lost in the shuffle of cancelled and delayed flights.

Third, don't try to ride out the storm if there is an evacuation. first responders may not be able to get to you.

Fourth, if you can't evacuate, so go an interior room when the storm hits.

And fifth, stock up on essentials.
