Charlotte Sheriff warns of fake viral posts about armed men impersonating officers

Posted

CHARLOTTE, Kan — The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is warning the public that posts on Facebook about armed men impersonating officers are unsubstantiated.

In a post on its Facebook page, The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said it has been forwarded several posts claiming armed men impersonating police officers were attempting to gain entry into homes in the Gulf Cove area.

The sheriff's office said it had received no such reports and said that comments suggesting people shoot first responders are "simply irresponsible."

But the post also stated that theft is always a concern during major storms and advised people to stay vigilant.
