**UPDATE (9:15AM)** -- Troopers have reopened the stretch of Tamiami Trail in Collier County. It was reopened to traffic shortly after 9 a.m. after being closed for 5 hours Tuesday morning.
FHP says a travel advisory is still in effect due to the lingering smoke, and the motorists should continue to use caution in the area.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- A 15-mile stretch of Tamiami Trail/U.S. 41 is closed in rural Collier County once again due to smoke in the area.
Troopers closed the stretch between State Road 29 near Everglades City and San Marco Road near Marco Island shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, visibility in the area had dropped to 100 feet as smoke from a wildfire in Picayune Strand drifted into the area.
This same stretch of road was closed from Sunday evening through Monday morning for the same reason.
Alternate Routes:
•Traffic traveling west may use Interstate 75 (Alligator Alley) as an alternate route of travel or may use westbound U.S. 41 to northbound State Road 29 to westbound I-75
•Traffic traveling east may use I-75 (Alligator Alley) as an alternate route of travel or may use eastbound I-75 to southbound State Road 29 to eastbound U.S. 41.
