Florida Forestry Service crews were out monitoring hot spots along Beck Boulevard Thursday night, one day after evacuees were allowed to return home.
"We go hot spots popping up, I just dumped water on another one that was 2 feet tall," said Marsha Chichester.
Bucket brigades and hoses did little to snuff out those hot spots behind her home at Club Naples RV park. Chichester and her husband tried to figure out what to do.
"I said, there's got to be a better way to do this besides standing here with a hose and he said why don't you get sprinklers?"
The couple rigged together 5 sprinklers with hoses and metal rods.
"It was just an idea, and idea that worked."
Meantime, at the front of the neighborhood, firefighters used bulldozers to put out a small hot spot.
"We have nothing but respect here at Club Naples for the first responders," said Chichester. "They're the ones that kept all our homes from burning."
