CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - Charlotte County commissioners passed an emergency ordinance banning outdoor burning Tuesday. 

The ban includes yard waste and recreational fires, as well as the private use of fireworks and sparklers. According to a release, the ban does not affect barbecue equipment or burn permits issued by the Florida Forest Service. 

Charlotte County is reportedly experience a severe drought and seeing high fire danger ratings. The ban will remain in effect until the threat of fires no longer exists and the board terminates it.
