The popularity of the hoverboard (or self-balancing electric scooter) quickly transitioned from a hot item to one that has frequently been catching fire and exploding. In recent months the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSP) received reports of 52hoverboard fires across the country, resulting in more than two million dollars in property damage.
But now a new a safety standard has been devised for hoverboards.
