According to the National Weather Service (NWS), El Niño is a disruption of the usual ocean-atmosphere system in the Tropical Pacific. These changes can have devastating consequences for weather and climate across the United States.

Additionally, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts above-average rainfall in areas along the Gulf Coast and Southeastern United States.
