The Story:  Folks with COPD are at greater risk for contracting a lung disease called Nontuberculous Mycobacteria or NTM.   Everyone encounters NTM during their daily lives. Mycobacteria can be found in tap water, showerheads, steam from hot tubs and soil from parks and gardens.   While this has no effect in some people, in others, especially those with conditions such as COPD, bronchiectasis or asthma, NTM can cause a serious, progressive and chronic lung disease.    Visit AboutNTM.com for additional information about NTM lung disease.

Dr. Shannon Kasperbauer will provide educational insights about NTM lung disease in order to alert patients with COPD about the risks.  Your viewers will learn more about NTM from Dr. Kasperbauer including the signs and symptoms of the condition.
