FORT MYERS, Fla. — While the lockdown might take away time at the gym, virtual fitness experts say your home is open 24 hours.

GYMGUYZ says you don't need equipment to get your heart rate up. They offer in-home and virtual personal training for clients.

While many are now working from home, they say idle time can be the enemy so it's important to keep your mind and body active.

“People aren't leaving for work so there's all these extra activities no one’s doing right now. They’re seated on the couch, seated in their office, and maybe walking 10 feet to go to the bathroom so that’s the biggest obstacle that we are encountering right now. It’s the increase in sedentary lifestyle, so it’s so important to take a little 5 to 10 minute break to get up and get moving," said Hunter Blatz, GM & Director of Training.

Thursday over a Zoom call, Blatz demonstrated a quick full body workout people can do at home.

It involved ten reps of squats, push ups, and shoulder taps for ten minutes.

“You do that for 10 minutes with those three exercises, you’re going to get your heart rate up and you’re going to be feeling good," stated Blatz.

For the people working from home, he added one more move just for them. The exercise is known as the W or touchdowns and they come in handy when stretching out your back.

“All day now we’re just sitting at a desk hunched forward, so it’s really important to focus on that posture and pull your shoulder blade behind you," said Blatz.
