FORT MYERS, Fla.-- The impact of COVID-19 forced companies to change business plans or even close. As restrictions ease, experts say in order to get customers coming in, there are a few steps you could follow.

“Do you have the right messaging on your website, have you taken the we’re closed off of your site because many businesses haven’t."

President and Creative Director Teri Hansen with Priority Marketing says getting the word out about being open is the first step.

One restaurant that works with her company— Harvest and Wisdom in Bonita Springs— did just that.

They have a "We're Open" post pinned to the top of their Facebook page, and there are also signs about social distancing at the restaurant.

Hansen's next tip, use videos on your social media pages.

“Video is so much more powerful than just words on your social media pages," she said.

Teri says their clients have been using video a lot more on websites, emails, and social media sites over the past four months. She recommends these types of posts because they bring in more engagement.

Hansen also recommends businesses take advantage of free marketing like social media. She said there are a few reasons why some businesses in Southwest Florida haven’t already.

“If you don’t have enough resources internally to do it, or it might be they don’t really know how to use those platforms.”

Whether you have a small business or big corporation-- Teri says marketing is a tool that shouldn’t go unused. Her company also created special packages for businesses that need budget-friendly marketing help.
