FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Fort Myers bakery is finding unique ways to stay open by adding to their menu and delivery services.
With large parties and events forced to cancel, Small Cakes of Fort Myers says it isn't focusing on lost business.
Instead, they're trying to make people laugh and come together in hard times.
If you haven't seen their new menu items, they are kind of hard to miss.
Inspired by the shortage on toilet paper and emoji expressions, the two crisis cupcakes are pretty stinking funny.
While the first one is topped with toilet paper made of marshmallow, number two is a familiar brown swirl with eyes.
"Our toilet paper and poop emoji cupcakes. It’s whimsical and they make people laugh in the face of being afraid. It’s been huge. People are going nuts over these. We have made somewhere between four and 500 rolls of toilet paper, if you will," said Tonyia Moyer, the owner of Small Cakes in Fort Myers.
She says they've also added a new take-home option where families can decorate their own Easter cookies and cupcakes.
Their new menu items focus on making tough times a bit sweeter.
"With these activities, it’s just promoting more of that hands-on together time instead of everyone sitting there with their phones and not really interacting. It’s really a great activity and when you’re all done you get to eat the craft," said Moyer.
She says the TP crisis cupcakes and Easter kits have been a big hit.
The bakery has also received countless calls and emails to donate special delivery orders to local hospitals and grocery stores.
Small Cakes of Fort Myers says they now offer pick up, curbside, and delivery.
