FORT MYERS, Fla., - A Fort Myers woman says she was robbed at gunpoint while walking near her home early Tuesday morning.
It happened near Tice Elementary School near the intersection of Palm Beach Boulevard and New York Drive.
"You would never think anything like this would be going on so I'm kinda shocked this happened," said Leo Williams, a nearby resident.
The woman told police a man yelled, "Come on, Come on" as he attacked her, pointed a gun to her head and threw her to the ground.
She says she heard the gun click three times. That's when she closed her eyes and began to pray. The man stole her lunch bag, her ID's and her cash. When she opened her eyes, he was gone.
"I keep myself during the day, doing my job. But at night time and early in the morning, I have to stay away from this place," said Alfredo Trujillo, a nearby auto repair shop owner.
The woman told police, because it was so dark when it happened, she wasn't able to give a good description of the suspect to deputies. If you have any information that can help deputies find the guy or her belongings, you can call Crimestoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
