SANIBEL, Fla. -- Officials at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife say injured bald eagle E8 remains in critical condition after Saturday's surgery.
The juvenile eagle was found last week outside its North Fort Myers nest with a fractured femur. Over the weekend, E8 underwent surgery to repair his femur. Doctors placed a pin into the eagle's femur to hold the bone in place.
In an update Monday, CROW reports that E8 remains in critical care and on strict cage rest as he gets continuous supportive care.
E8 had been missing since May 7th, when the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam showed the bird being attacked by an owl.
This is the second time E8 has undergone treatment this year. As an eaglet, it entered rehab after getting tangled in fishing line.
