FORT MYERS,Fla. -- Two Fort Myers men behind bars on gun charges after police prevented a potential nightclub shooting over the weekend.

19-year-old Jevontae Williams and 18-year-old Keeron Jones are both being held in jail on concealed weapons charges.

Police say they were patrolling the parking lot of the Vegas Lounge on Colonial Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.  That's when they noticed Jones armed with a pistol. They also reportedly saw Williams grab an AK-47-style assault rifle from a trunk.

Both men reportedly tried to hide their guns and walk away when officers approached them.

Both guns were loaded at the time.

Williams was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and carrying weapon openly.  Jones was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and providing a false name to law enforcement.

Over the past few months, police have responded to several fights, assaults and shootings in the same parking lot.
