CAPE CORAL, Fla-- Cape Coral homeowners are now taking extra precaution with their outdoor Christmas decorations after Cape PD said thieves are targeting those popular new laser light displays.
At least 5 homes in Cape Coral have had their decorations stolen right from their front yard.
"Whoever wants to come by my yard, I don't know, good luck," said resident Ana Gallina. She says that after hearing her neighbor was one of the victims, she started using her surveillance cameras to monitor her decorations, as well as take some inside with her at night, including her new laser light display.
The police reports show all 5 reported cases involved laser light devices being taken from their property.
They've become a popular Christmas decoration for residents in SW Florida. The small laser light projector requires only an extension cord and outlet to light up an entire home.
The decoration ranges anywhere from $50 to about $200.
Cape Police said they still haven't caught whose responsible for these thefts. Anyone with information is asked to call police. You can also click HERE to report information.
