Winner announced in sand sclpting solo division

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – The 29th Annual American Sand Sculpting Championship, presented by the Seminole Casino Hotel, has announced the winners from the opening weekend solo division competition.

The winners from the Master Sculptor Solo Division were:

1st Place – Bruce Phillips “Transition”
2nd Place – Todd Pangborn “It’s about Time”
3rd Place – Morgan Rudluff “Independence”

Sculptor’s Choice – Brian Turnbough “New Life”

The 16 completed Solo Division Sculptures will be on display at the event for the remaining 7 days with the Advanced Amateur and Doubles Division competitions taking place this week.

Guests are welcome to attend the Sand Sculpting event daily through Sunday November 29th from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm with great activities including:

· Quick Sand Speed Sand Sculpting© -  An audience-participation show in which two sculptors go head-to-head for a ten-minute sculpting competition, sculpting a subject selected by someone in the audience. The winner of each round advances to championship rounds based on audience applause.
· Photo Opportunity Sculptures – Designed so you can step into the sculpture, become a part of it and have your photo taken. You can also have the sculpture customized by carving family names, dates and just about anything into the sculpture to make it your very own - family vacation photo, Christmas card, souvenir, post card, etc.
· Kids Zone - An area where the kids can practice building their own sand sculptures as well as numerous kid’s activities.
· Sand Sculpting Demonstrations and Lessons – Learn the Tricks of Master Sculptors.
· Amateur Contest – Open to anyone & all levels of sculptors.
· State Championships – This is a competition where an advanced amateur sand sculptor can prove their abilities and get one step closer to being accepted as a Master Sculptor.
· Sand Vendor Village – More than 40 vendors from around the country will be offering a great selection of food, beverages, specialty retail and arts and crafts.

Admission is just $5 with children 4 and under free. Both active and retired military veterans can attend the event any day and receive a $1.00 off with military ID. Family 4 Packs (2 Adult, 2 Children 5 and over) will also be available at the main entrance for $16.

Discount coupons are also available from local participating 7-11 locations at their front counters.

The 29th Annual American Sand Sculpting Competition is held at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, located at 6890 Estero Boulevard on Fort Myers Beach.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive from the south in order to avoid traffic congestion. Event directors have coordinated a revolving bus system to transport attendees from the Lover’s Key parking area to the site.
