PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Charlotte County officials have presented a recognition award to a citizen who assisted in an emergency cardiac arrest call in December.
According to Charlotte County Fire & EMS, the emergency call was on December 26th at Tire Kingdom on Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte. Fire responders arrived at a cardiac arrest call to find an unconscious man lying on the garage floor with two men at the patient’s side performing CPR.
Emergency responders took responsibility of the patient’s care and advanced life support care commenced. The patient was transported to a local facility where his medical treatment continued.
Tuesday, public safety director Chief Marianne Taylor presented Gabino Gutierrez with an award for his CPR efforts. The other employee who helped was privately given an award, in accordance with his request.
