SANIBEL, Fla. (AP) - A southwest Florida teen is facing a misdemeanor charge after authorities say he took an egg from a sea turtle nest.

The News-Press (http://goo.gl/Ao7Sr2) reports that 19-year-old Adrian Andres Morales-Corrales was jailed Wednesday and charged with possession of 11 or fewer marine turtle eggs.

Sanibel police say an officer spotted Morals Corrales on his hands and knees over a nest on Bowman's Beach. When the officer confronted the teen, he reported finding one egg in Morales Corrales' backpack.

The egg was replaced back into the nest, which was marked by stakes, yellow tape and warning signs.
