Marco Island Police were investigating several attempted break-ins Thursday - two in the 1100 block of Collier Boulevard, and another in the 700 block of North Barfield Drive.
Assistant Chief Dave Baer of MIPD said they had multiple officers patrolling the neighborhoods for several hours, after a call came in around noon that a bedroom window had been smashed in one of the homes on Collier Boulevard. Nothing was reported stolen.
K-9 and aviation units from the Collier County Sheriff's Office assisted in the search for 2 suspects, both described as white males. A witness told police one of them was wearing jeans and a green shirt with red lettering on it.
Investigators believe they may be the same men who broke into 11 homes on Marco in October and November, partly because of the way the homes are being entered, by breaking a window or sliding glass door.
Baer said that the home on North Barfield Drive was ransacked, but nothing appeared to be missing.
Anyone with information on these attempted burglaries is asked to call the Marco Island Police Department at 239-389-5050.
