STUART, Fla. -- In light of a state of emergency that's been declared in two Florida east coast counties, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson will be on the east coast Thursday.
He will be there to get a first-hand look at the unusually high presence of algae blooming in Lake Okeechobee and in the St. Lucie River.
There have been recent calls to stop the Lake 'O' water releases to slow down the spread of algae into rivers in Florida, including the Caloosahatchee.
