SARASOTA, Fla. -- Authorities have evacuated a Planned Parenthood center in Sarasota for an unknown substance within the building.
The Sarasota Country Fire Department is leading the evacuation of the building near downtown Sarasota with help from the Sarasota Police Department. Two HAZMAT teams are also on scene.
The nearby Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences is locked down but children are safe.
Six patients are being transported for evaluation. There are approximately 38 people inside. According to the Fire Department, everyone will be decontaminated on scene.
At this time, it's unknown what substance has made people ill.
UPDATE (12 PM) -- HAZMAT teams have identified unknown cleaning chemical as the source of the illnesses. The chemicals were packed in a safe container and removed from the building.
There is no criminal investigation.
Workers are expected to return to the building later Monday.
