TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - A medical marijuana bill is headed back to the floor of the Florida Senate after being approved in the rules committee on Monday.
Sen. Rob Bradley's bill (SB 460) expands the Right to Try Act to include patients with terminal conditions to use non-smokable marijuana of all strengths and doses. However, the bill has added regulations seeking to clean up issues that have come up since the Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act signed by Gov. Rick Scott two years ago.
Marijuana high in cannabidiol (CBD) but low in tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the compound that produces a euphoric high, was supposed to be to families for children suffering from epilepsy at the beginning of 2015 but there have been numerous issues and challenges to the licensing process. Two of the five distributing organizations granted licenses in late November have received cultivation authorization.
