JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Investigators have uncovered human remains on the property where an inmate lived in Jacksonville.
The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1LkzqHb ) reports the remains discovered Thursday at the home where 54-year-old Russell David Tillis lived. He was arrested in May on charges including aggravated assault, battery of a law enforcement officer and making threats.
Jacksonville Sheriff's spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda confirmed the remains were human, but provided no further details. Officials say they were responding to a tip when they found the remains.
There was a heavy presence of police and forensic teams at the home Thursday afternoon. The newspaper reports evidence technicians focused on a shed behind the home.
Tillis remains in the Jacksonville Jail. Records don't indicate whether he has an attorney. His next scheduled court hearing is Feb. 22.
