A statewide investigation claimed many serious crimes at Florida schools aren’t reported to the state.

According to state law the crimes are supposed to be reported.

However, The Sun-Sentinel did an investigation that found 1 in 5 schools fail to report a crime every year.

The report showed some crimes such as sexual abuse by a teacher weren't reported because the student wasn’t to blame in the situation.

The Sun-Sentinel launched the investigation following the Parkland shooting.

The report showed school leaders at Parkland High School didn’t report several incidents over the past three years.
