SARASOTA, Fla. -- Deputies have arrested a Sarasota man for robbing a gas station where he used to work after a worker recognized his voice.

33-year-old Joshua Ruiz is being held in the Sarasota County Jail on $100,000 bond on a charge of Armed Robbery.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, Ruiz entered the Shell gas station on Fruitville Road early Friday morning with a handgun.  Surveillance video shows the suspect going behind the counter, where he grabbed over $270 in cash, then fled out the back door.

The clerk on duty at the time told investigators that she immediately recognized the suspect's voice as belonging to Ruiz.

The handgun used in the robbery turned out to be a pellet gun stolen from his roommate.
