Crook steals 94-year-old's tricycle

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The St. Petersburg Police Department is hoping the public can help identify a man who stole a 94-year-olds motorized tricycle.

94-year-old Richard Griffin rode his motorized tricycle to the CVS, on 6th Street South in St. Pete on July 18. When he went inside the store, someone stole his tricycle.

It is a motorized trike that requires a key to operate and is not easy to move. For this reason, St. Pete Police believe someone may dump it once they realize they can't pawn it.

"Please help us get the word out, as this is Mr. Griffin's only mode of transportation. He can't afford the estimated $2,700 to replace it," St. Pete Police wrote in a press release.

Video surveillance shows the crime being committed, but the low quality has made it difficult for police to identify the suspect.

Griffin turns 95-years-old next month.  He has a piece of advice for everyone, including the thief.

"Be good to people, don't hurt each other," said Griffin.
