BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say two boys were briefly detained following reports that they were pointing realistic-looking BB guns at traffic.
Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater wrote in an email that officers responded to the area following a 911 call.
Police say the boys, ages 10 and 12, tossed the guns on the ground but were immediately detained. They admitted to skipping school and pointing the guns at cars.
Slater's email says officers explained in great detail just how dangerous this situation was and how badly it could have ended. The juveniles were later released to the custody of their mother.
