2 injured when helicopter crashes in Florida

VENICE, Fla. (AP) - Sarasota County Sheriff's deputies say a student pilot and teacher were injured when a helicopter crashed shortly after taking off from Venice Municipal Airport.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Wendy Rose said the crash happened Tuesday evening.

The Herald Tribune (http://bit.ly/1XGTitN ) reports a sheriff's office helicopter crew located the downed aircraft shortly after it crashed.

Officials say a woman with injures to her face and head was flown to a hospital in Sarasota. An ambulance took a man to a Venice hospital. Deputies say he was walking and talking after the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified of the crash.

Wednesday, authorities identified the flight instructor as 38-year-old Ronald Vasconcelos, and the student pilot was 31-year-old Agnus Jolumo.
