FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A tough break for those of you hoping to 'Slide the City' in Fort Myers this weekend.
According to FDOT, Slide the City never applied for the required permit needed to host the event scheduled for December 17th. This means the huge waterslide won't be coming to the Edison Bridge, as originally planned.
Although the Slide the City website and Facebook event page still exist, as of Wednesday morning a notice appears of the website that states, "We are either still working on the permit for your city or just getting ready to open registration. Join our mailing list so you'll be the first to know when you can sign up."
This isn't the first time Slide the City has been canceled. The event originally scheduled for a date in September was canceled after Slide the City didn't apply for the proper permitting.
According to the City of Fort Myers, staff from Slide the City has been in contact with the city about now changing the date to Spring 2017.
