LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- One person was injured by gunfire in their North Fort Myers home in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries while inside a home on Higgins Road, which is located off Twin Brooks Road in North Fort Myers.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities on the scene tell Fox 4 that the shots came from outside the home just after 6 a.m.

Victoria King was inside the home when the shots were fired.  "They shot my best friend. He happened to be on the couch instead of my old man, and we just heard 'pow pow pow pow pow.'"  Old man is slang for a significant other.

But Victoria's old man didn't get hit. Her best friend did and she doesn't think it's random. "Targeting, trying to shoot me as well, because it went straight through my daughter's crib and it went to where my head lays and it went right over my head. There was a chunk missing out the back of his head."

Now, feeling lucky to be alive, Victoria tells FOX4 she knows the shooter and believes the shots were intended to take her and her  fiancee out.
