Second ATM theft attempt in Fort Myers

For the second time in a week, Fort Myers police are investigating an attempted ATM theft at a local bank.

On Monday night at 11:40pm Fort Myers police officers responded to an alarm at the Bank of the Ozarks located at 1565 Red Cedar Drive.

Officers found heavy damage to the outside ATM area.   Investigators believe three men walked up to the ATM and tried to break into it.

They couldn't access it, but they caused serious damage to the machine before running off empty handed.

This is the second ATM theft attempt in Fort Myers this week.  This incident  happened just before the attempted theft at the Bank of America at 1511 Matthew Drive.

While  one of the suspects matches the description in both incidents, investigators are not sure the two cases are related.

If you have any information about either ATM theft attempt, please call police.
