FLORIDA - There are plenty of places in Florida that are full of excitement. Unfortunately, not all of its cities have earned that distinction. And according to one website, four Southwest Florida cities are far from exciting.
Travel site "RoadSnacks" is ranking the 10 most boring places in Florida and Sanibel actually tops the list!
When Debra Guido, who's lived in southwest Florida for 14 years, heard Sanibel topped the boring list, she was shocked.
"I would find that very hard to believe because there's so many nice places on Sanibel. It's a very homey, fun little town," Guido said.
This website based its rankings on solely on demographic statistics, crunching numbers based on average age (older = bad), the percentage of married couples (more = bad), and the number of households with kids (more = bad).
But Guido said between the shops, shells, and scenery, Sanibel is nothing but fun, pointing to the traffic as proof.
"If you go over there, it is a lot of traffic all the time, and if it's that boring, I can't see people going," she said.
But seasonal resident Karl Oldag sees it differently.
"I can understand it. If you play golf, there's a couple good golf courses over there, but other than that, I don't get too excited when I go to Sanibel," he said.
He said there's no doubt the beaches are great, but for him, it's not enough.
Regardless of the city's standing when it comes to excitement, Guido said to check it out for yourself. "Just enjoy Sanibel. We love it!" she said.
Also near the top of their list are Punta Gorda (3rd), Marco Island (6th) and Naples (7th).
