FORT MYERS, FLa. -- Changing lights and speeding cars can be seen all hours of the day at College and Mc Gregor Boulevard. Just ask 43-year-old Norman Williams. He went to jail Friday night for pointing a semi automatic handgun at a couple. His case of road rage at the intersection landed him two felony counts of aggravated assault.
As the owner of a watch repair shop next to the busy intersection, Ben Daidone has seen collisions and confrontations time and time again. "People have rolled down there window and cursed each other out just to go 25 feet to a light," Daidone said.
Handy man Victor Ovelar has stuck his face outside the front door of his frame shop plenty times to see the road rage for himself. "Everyday. Everyday it's people not looking, text messaging and they going so fast."
This violent case of road rage is just one of many in Southwest Florida this year. There's been more than 100 cases of reckless driving the Cape Coral Police Department has investigated since February. It's why business owners want something done about this intersection where rules go un followed. "They do crazy U-turns I mean, see this says no left turn right there ? You think that's ever abided by ? Not once ! If I had a nickel for every person that made a u turn or left turn out of here," Daidone said.
