CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is warning area business owners of a possible scam a customer may try to pull.
The sheriff's office says a local restaurant owner reported the scam. They said a customer presented a dry cleaning bill for a stain that was caused by a food spill at the restaurant during a previous visit.
The owner wrote a check for the dry cleaning bill, but later learned the same person was making the same claims at other restaurants in the Venice and Englewood areas.
The customer is described only as a white male.
