More than 30,000 people gathered in Cape Coral for the annual Red White and BOOM Fourth of July event despite the rainy weather.

There was music, plenty of food, and a fireworks show synched to music.

"I love the fireworks and how pretty they look at night," Katelyn Rodriguez said.

The holiday meant a little more to some families.

"My brother is in the Army, so we like saluting them, and I plan on going into the Air Force once I graduate," Rodriguez said.

More than 30,000 people coming together for their favorite parts of the Fourth of July, but with one message in mind.  "I'm a veteran, and it goes out to all the veterans, and I love celebrating my patriotism and my freedom," DJ Ali said.

People said they chose to celebrate their freedom at Red White and Boom because of it's family friendly atmosphere.

"Cape Coral is the safest place," Ali said.
