The three-year-old dog rescued from Miami-Dade County after she was abandoned with severe injuries is on the way to recovery.

Abigail is missing her entire ear and the side of her face. Experts believe she was a bait dog used in dog fighting.

She has been in the care of Pets First Wellness Center in Estero since November 14th. Doctors there performed skin-graft surgery on November 22nd, taking skin from her shoulder and placing it over where her ear used to be.

The company Arthrex donated thousands of dollars in state-of-the-art bandages to help make Abigail's recovery possible.

Abigail is doing so well, she was able to go home with her Foster mom, her rescuer from Love is Fur Ever Dog Rescue, Victoria Frazier, for the weekend.
