Blue Green Algae Task Force announces recommendations

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – The Blue Green Algae Task Force has a first draft of recommendations they will give to state leaders after their meeting on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the group discussed recommendations on how to improve agriculture management parties, water quality monitoring, public health, and innovative technologies. The goal would be to conserve water while educing pollutant and creating a statewide water quality monitoring program.

They're also researching the algae's impact on our health and finding technology that helps to prevent, manage or clean up blooms.

The task force also held another meeting on Tuesday where they discussed various topics, including the health impacts of toxic algae and ways to improve communication between local and state agencies.
