NAPLES, Fla. -- A pro-life group weighed in on the presidential election, Sunday, as they peacefully demonstrated at various locations on U.S. 41 in Naples.
The demonstration was part of a nation-wide event, coordinated by Life Chain, a national pro-life organization. Some cars honked in support of the messages displayed on several signs. One read "Pray to end abortion," while another read "Abortion kills children." "Joining together, we can make a firm statement in favor of life," said Father Michael Orsi, of St. Agnes Catholic Church. "This is not just a Christian issue, this is a human issue."
Abortion was not among the topics discussed during the first presidential debate, but for Orsi, it is clear where each candidate stands. "Donald Trump has said that he is pro-life and so far, as Hillary Clinton goes, we know exactly where she stands. She is pro-choice and I like to say she's pro death," he said.
Clinton has been vocal about supporting women's right to choose whether she wants to have an abortion. She had gained the endorsement of Planned Parenthood, and organization Kathy Lowers does not want her tax money going to. "Our community clinics can do everything the Planned Parenthood does," she said. "Planned Parenthood is basically an abortion clinic chain, like a McDonalds for the abortion business. Tax payers have been underwriting Planned Parenthood for so many years."
Lowers' vote will be for Trump. She tells Fox 4 it is the best chance pro-life Supreme Court Justices will be appointed. However, she does not agree with Trump's comments regarding punishment for women who get abortions. "No woman should be punished for having an abortion because they're the victims too. Most people who get an abortion don't even know what it is when they get it, because there's such ignorance about life in the womb," Lowers said.
