FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Students, and members of the community continue to rally behind a football coach who was dismissed from South Fort Myers High over a sex scandal which reportedly involved some members of the team.
Varsity coach Anthony Dixon, who also worked as a security guard, was fired by the district earlier this week.
Assistant coach Nathan O'Jibway was also removed but will keep his job as a PE teacher.
Since then, the hashtag #DixonIsSouth has circulated on social media, and a petition on Change.org calling for Dixon's reinstatement has gained well over 1700 signatures. It's gained more than 300 signatures since just Thursday.
