The SWAT team in Collier County arrested a man in North Naples early Monday morning. James Corelli, 43, is accused of battering his father and pointing a gun at him. He then refused to leave a residence in the 500 block of Lake Louise Circle, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
"My wife heard a lot of commotion around 5:30 in the morning," said Roy Ashley, who lives in the Retreat in North Naples, where the incident occurred. "I'm terribly shocked to hear something like that (happened) here."
Deputies responded to the residence at about 3:45 a.m., where the victim met them outside the house and said his son had battered him and pointed a gun at him, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kristine Gill wrote in an email. SWAT was brought in after Corelli refused to leave the house.
Officers entered the home at 7:40 a.m. and arrested Corelli without incident. He was treated at a local hospital before being taken to jail to be booked on charges of battery on a person aged 65 or older, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
