PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- One man suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns Thursday when a fire in the front yard spread to the structure of a home in the 12300 block of Paramount Drive in the Tropical Gulf Acres community south of Punta Gorda.
According to Charlotte County Fire & EMS, firefighters arrived to the scene shortly after 11:30 AM to find belongings in the front yard on fire and rapidly spreading to the house.
The fire was extinguished quickly and a search of the house done. Two people and two dogs were in the house. One person, a 60-year-old man, was transported to the hospital for treatment for burns. The other person was treated at the scene for medical issues.
The dogs were uninjured.
It is unknown so far what caused the fire. The State Fire Marshal is investigating.
