FORT MYERS, Fla. - Tyrese Landrum, the North Fort Myers teen who killed his mother in 2014 and hid her body in their mobile home was sentenced Monday morning by Judge Frank Porter.
Landrum was adjudicated delinquent for the manslaughter charge. He was given Juvenile sanctions of a high-risk program which includes incarceration in the Department of Juvenile Justice. Once he has completed the High Risk program he may be eligible for a step-down residential treatment program.
It is anticipated that the combination of these programs will keep him in the custody of the DJJ until he is at least 19 years old and possibly until he is 21.
Landrum was 15 when he killed his mother. He was originally charged with second-degree murder before pleading to the manslaughter charge. He was also charged as an adult with two counts of tampering with evidence. The judge withheld adjudication. Landrum was given 5 years of probation on each count to run consecutively for a total of 10 years on probation without the possibility of early termination.
