COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- New recruits with the North Collier Fire Department were getting training Tuesday.
The firefighters used chainsaws to practice ventilation cuts. The cuts allow superheated gases to escape the home, making it easier for crews to find the source of the fire.
"Everything depends on the nature of the fire, and the construction of the property that we are in. That's why we continuously train so there's not one thing we can continually do all the time, so we have to be ready for anything that gets thrown our way," Michael Jimenez with the North Collier Fire Department said.
The home used for the training was scheduled for demolition was donated by a Bonita Springs dentist.
