BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- The Imperial Parkway land chosen to be the new location for the new Bonita Springs High School will no longer happen. The contract has been terminated.

A test conducted Monday by the engineer  indicated the possibility of diesel residue. This requires a core sample to be sent to a lab for further testing to determine actual soil content.

Last Friday, staff requested a 7 day extension of the inspection period from the property owner to conduct further soil tests. The land owner verbally agreed to extend the inspection period, but an executed document did not arrive by 5 PM when the inspection period ended, causing termination of the contract.

The Lee County School District is working on contingency plans to accommodate student growth in that area. The superintendent will discuss the topic tomorrow.
