President Donald Trump on Thursday blamed the news media for the angry political climate as a serial bomber continues to send suspicious packages to Democrat politicians and news organizations.

"A very big part of the Anger we see today in our society is caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the Mainstream Media that I refer to as Fake News. It has gotten so bad and hateful that it is beyond description. Mainstream Media must clean up its act, FAST!" Trump tweeted.

Trump's comments come a day after CNN's New York offices were evacuated after a suspicious package addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan was discovered in the building's mailroom.

Trump made similar comments at a political rally in Wisconsin on Wednesday, saying the  "the media also has a responsibility to set a civil tone and to stop the endless hostility."

Trump took a more muted tone on Wednesday afternoon prior to his rally, hours after packages containing explosive devices had been intercepted before they were delivered to his political rivals Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

"In these times, we have to unify, we have to come together, send a message that acts or threats of political violence of any kind have no place in the United States of America," Trump said.

Just last week, at a political rally in Montana, Trump recalled fondly that Rep. Greg Gianforte (R-Montana) once assaulted a reporter, saying that "any guy that can do a body slam, he's my kind of guy."
