Posted

NAPLES, Fla. -- The Naples Pier will be closed to visitors for several hours Saturday morning while volunteer dive crews clean out debris.

Divers will be cleaning out piling debris that accumulates over time, including fishing line and gear, rope, and crab traps.  Crews will also be stationed on the pier to haul up the debris.

This is a yearly event to help keep the water around the pier clean and safe.

The event requires the pier to be closed from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 23rd.

The underwater pier cleanup is organized by the Natural Resources Division of the City of Naples.
