CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A Cape Coral family found poisoned by carbon monoxide in their home were visited by police 6 times before the deadly incident.
According to police, 30-year-old Amanda Florea intended to die by suicide when she left two vehicles running in her garage. A neighbor, who did not to be identified, told Fox 4 the woman's mother-in-law found her dead in one of the vehicle's Sunday.
Florea's husband Eric and 4 year-old son Aiden also died. They were inside the home at the time and authorities believe they were accidental casualties.
"When we saw the three body bags we knew that one had to be one of the kids," said neighbor Vanessa Baker.
Records from the Cape Coral Police Department reveal a troubled life inside the home. Officers were called out 6 times in the two months the family lived at the home. including two calls in June when Eric overdosed on Meth. Police notified DCF of the drug use in the home.
Efforts to contact DCF went unanswered.
There were also two calls about a suicide attempt by Eric. Amanda told authorities he wanted to be killed by an officer.
According to an arrest report, Eric denied wanting to commit suicide and officers left after determining he was not a threat to himself or his 4 year-old son.
"If the cops come once you cool down; two or three times, maybe something else should have been down you know, five or six and this is an end result," said one neighbor.
The family leaves behind a teenage daughter who is in Oregon at the time of the incident, according to a neighbor.
