SARASOTA, Fla.- Republican Senator and presidential hopeful Marco Rubio held a rally in Sarasota on Tuesday, a week ahead of the Florida Primary.
"I Just think he'd make a great President. I think he can work with the other side, which I think some of the others do not," Rubio supporter Larry Perkins said.
Supporters were wearing their free "Marco Rubio 2016" caps.
Rubio took to the stage, criticizing the last eight years Obama has been in office and outlining a form of leadership that minimizes the federal government.
"After I take the oath of office, I'm going straight to the Oval Office, and I'm going to repeal every single one of Barack Obama's unconstitutional executive orders," Rubio told supporters.
His idea of bringing back the American Dream stronger than ever inspires 18-year-old Josh Stough. "He lived the American dream his self, so I think he such a good candidate," he said.
Winning the state of Florida in the primary is crucial to Rubio winning the Republican nomination.
A new poll by Monmouth University shows Rubio closing in on front runner Donald Trump: 38 percent of likely voters are choosing Trump, 30 percent choosing Rubio.
Trump was also one of Rubio's campaign points. "Is conservatism how loud you scream, or how many bad words or say, or how many people you insult, or how angry you are?"
As the crowed chanted Rubio's name, he told supporters he's the only ticket to getting a Republican in the Oval Office, and supporters agreed. "He's probably the only one that can beat Hillary at this point in time," Perkins said.
The Florida Primary is Tuesday, March 15th.
