Man charged after leaving dogs in car

A Naples man got in trouble for what happened after he was confronted about leaving three dogs in the back of his car.

Collier County deputies responded to the Target on Pine Ridge Road Sunday.  They found a vehicle that had been idling for a half hour, the air conditioner running, and three dogs in the back seat.

When the driver, Max Stone finally approached the vehicle he got into a confrontation with deputies and was charged with obstruction of justice.  He later bonded out of jail.

Fox-4 knocked at the apartment where Stone was  listed as living on the police report, but no one answered.

One of Stone's neighbors did have something to say about leaving pets alone in a car.

"Yeah, I'd say it's very irresponsible," said Todd Metzger.

Metzger says he saw another pet owner recently leave their dog in a car outside a restaurant.

"15 minutes in and out, and they are gone, but at least I let the waitress know, she was a dog lover, she went out there to make sure everything out there was OK."

Metzger says he'd never leave his own dogs alone, even with the air conditioning running.

"I'm not going to take them out, and go to Publix, and leave him in their with the windows down, the same thing applies to a child."

Stone is only charged with obstruction of justice, not animal cruelty at this time.
