Youth football team wants a new field

Posted

A Cape Coral youth football program is looking for a place to call home after they've been renting Mariner High School's field for the last three years.

Shannon Stengel is the president of the Lee County Hawks he says this group of football and cheerleading is the second largest youth program in this area, so they need their own field.

"We're growing one heck of a family and we don't have a home. We have to rent everything," Stengel said. "Luckily, Mariner has been so gracious to let us use their field, but it still prevents us from doing and achieving some of our goals."

Stengel also said he's reached out to City Hall to see if there is available land for this program, so now he's just trying to create more awareness.

With school starting just around the corner, having a field of their own would help aid the Lee County Hawks with safety, putting on events, and being able to have a field of their own.
